The Love Goose

THE LOVE GOOSE

The Love Goose—oh what a silly name, you say.

You silly goose,

No inner strength do you convey.

But nay—how wrong you are this day.

This goose holds within the gift of love

Given by the Lord above.

A gentle spirit lies within,

Not marred by grief or sin.

It stands amid the reeds of life

Not marred by inner strife.

It holds within its feathers fine

A holy peace from the Lord Divine.

By Connie V. Volk

My first blog is dedicated to my dear father, Edwin Ehrmann.

He was a farmer by trade but a painter by choice. Passionate about creating masterpieces on canvas, he delighted in giving away many of them to those whose hearts they touched. He was a friend to all, sharing kindness, wisdom and love. He made each day count, leaving a legacy of art, godly character and faith.

Both of my parents were excellent role models. They showed by example how to walk humbly before their God in joy and trust. They enjoyed each day and loved people along the way. They made a great team.

I dedicated THE HIDDEN PLACE, in part, to my mom. Because I also wanted to honor my father, I chose to dedicate the opening of my website to him.

I selected this painting because it has always appealed to me. It is light and airy, but, yet has a deeper meaning that beckons to be explored. Amid the stress and storms of life that rage around us, this unruffled love goose embodies both peace and serenity. It provides comfort to me in this age of uncertainties.

My all-time “go to” scripture passage has always been “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 (NKJ). I look at this painting every day in my home. It reminds me to stay anchored in the Prince of Peace.

May His peace also be a regular part of your days.
